    Ok,

    so, how far do you all cock back the thumb in your left hand traditional grip? Seems like the stick is very insecure unless I cock the thumb back fairly far.

    I have been learning trad grip for a few months now and I would have to say that the thumb, or fulcrum, as you are asking should be around 3/4 back. If it's too far back there will be no rebound and the stick will be VERY top-heavy. It's all about balance.
